Goals from player-manager Johnny Giles, Ally Brown, Len Cantello and Ray Treacy saw West Bromwich Albion beat Manchester United 4-0 at The Hawthorns in October 1976.

Gerry Daly missed a penalty for the Red Devils after Ally Robertson performed the most blatant handball of all time from a Lou Macari inside the area.

After today's 0-0 bore draw at Old Trafford it is nice to remind myself of this match (I was sitting in the Halfords Lane, aged 15, with my dad. And of course we won 4-0 the next year. And the fantastic 4th round match winning 3-2 in extra time in the replay. And a double the next season with the brilliant 5-3 at OT. And the following two home matches. But that was then…..
