This weekend's game against Crewe is Neil Young's last game at the club. It is our last home game of the season, and it could very well be our last game at all.
Saturday will see the last game at Dean Court for veteran Cherries defender Neil Young. After 13
1/2 years at the club the tough tackling stalwart is emigrating to Australia to start a coaching
career in the blossoming Australian football scene. We may never see another player spend their
entire career with us again. It will be an emotional farewell to a true Bournemouth legend and he
will be missed.
It could also be the last game at Dean Court for AFC Bournemouth itself. Maybe the reality of
this hasn't hit home for many people yet, so we'll just say it again slowly.
This could be AFC Bournemouth's last ever game at Dean Court.
Perhaps the silence emanating from the offices of Begbies Traynor can be taken as a positive
sign. If the two bids that had been submitted had fallen by the wayside then the administrator
would once more urgently be seeking buyers. That there has been no press conference, no sounds of
panic and no premature pronouncements may genuinely be a good sign. The administrator reportedly
set a 48 hour deadline for the receipt of a £100,000 deposit 48 hours ago. If it was not paid then
he stated that he would sell star striker Sam Vokes to keep the club afloat. Sam is still a
Cherries player at this moment.
No news does indeed feel like good news right now.
However the fact remains that this is our last home game this season, our future is still on
a knife edge and it could very well be the last game we ever play at this ground.
The Supporters Trust has been working tirelessly to bring about a positive resolution to the
situation. The efforts of all concerned must be applauded. If the club does pay the ultimate price,
it will not be for want of effort from those mandated to represent us.
Treat this game like it will be our last. Demonstrate the passion that you have for this
football club. Get behind the lads like you may never get the chance to again - and show people
that it is a club that people love and that it is a club worth buying.
Let the world know that we are Bournemouth and we will remain.
