Default Excellent Performance

Thought we did more than enough to win today, and 1-0 flattered Morecambe in all honestly. We created a fair few chances and dominated the game. Fletch put in a captain's performance and just kept going. McQuoid looked lively and had their no. 22 on toast over and over again, whilst Danny and paticularly Anton won the midfield battle, our passing was pretty precise.
And well done to our make-shift defence, excellent news that we kept a clean sheet, I thought Marv in particular looked much more composed at the back in recent games and of course Garry and Wiggins were fantastic.

Jalal- 6- Had a quiet game, but made one great save second half, was rarely troubled. He has really improved his distribution this season.

Bradbury- 7- Passing was more precise and got forward supporting McQuoid well.
Bartley- 7- Strong and quick, I've criticsed his lack of composure before but he looked very assured at the back.
Garry- 8- Still don't know how fit he is, but if he is carrying a knock then it hasn't shown!
Wiggins- 8- Really hope we can keep him, confident at the back and bombed up and down the touchline and whipped in some teasing crosses.

McQuoid- 9- Ran at their full back all day, Parrish will be seeing the back of McQuoids heels in his nightmares tonight!
Hollands- 7- Another one who I thought wasn't 100%, but his passing was excellent and he looked twice the player he was a few weeks ago.
Robinson- 8- Good goal and did so much hard work in the middle of the park. Broke up Morecambe's attacks and his passing sent us forward.
Connell- 6- Not a midfielder but he and Wiggins linked well down the left. He cut inside but his finishing was poor!

Fletcher- 8- Worked tirelessley and led us into battle. Good to see him back as captain today. Won most of his headers and was just a general nuisance.
Pitman- 7- His build-up play was superb, and had (In my opinion) a goal wrongfully dissallowed. Dropped off a bit in the final 10 minutes but an overall good performance yet he still gets unneccessary stick.

MOM though has to be McQuoid, looked a danger whenever he got the ball and completely murdered their full back Parrish, who should probably have seen a second yellow after persistent fouling.

Bit harsh on Connell he put a lot of work in today. Even the blokes who normally slate him constantly near me didn't get on his back today.

Josh was amazing today - delighted he got MOM and fully deserved as well.

Danny is playing with a knee ligament injury don't forget as well.

Brett overall had a great game I thought, his work rate has improved immensely. So gutted for him the goal was disallowed. There was no way he was offside, the lino was bang in line with us and Brett was to my right and the defender in front of me. Poor decision...

Yet again we create a stack load of chances and can't quite kill the game off (although what was wrong with Brett's goal? ). Still delighted with the win, and other results worked out reasonably well for us too.

Sepcial word for Josh, that was McQuoid's best performance as a professional player yet, well done that lad. As ever he worked really hard, but today his seemed to have much more confidence about him, rather than shying away from the ball or off-loading it quickly he was getting into good positions, screaming for it and running players both inside and outside the full back. It should give Feeney something to think about, that right midfield slot may not be quite so secure for Liam if Josh carries on like that.

Bartley did well as the make-shift centre half, a few heart in mouth moments but Garry helped him out when needed.

Brett did very well, worked very hard and some of the link up play with Connell was very nice to see. Shame Brett's goal was chalked off, it was NEVER offside.

Connell worked hard, but has his issues infront of goal. That midfield slot suits him well, shame he can't find his shooting boots at the moment but his overall contribution to the side is good.

Hollands made a difference today. I know he's not quite fit which explains why he was missing a few times from that midfield and why Robo was left isolated at times. However he always put his boot/head/anything he could on the line and several times broke forward to make himself an outlet when we needed one.

I'll take any kind of victory at the moment but I thought we played some good stuff at times today and thoroughly deserved the 3 points.

Bare bones and players carrying knocks plus some out of position and we made a half decent team (in this League at any rate) look second best for 90% of the match. To do this after getting a hiding at Morecambe shows real character.

Proud to be a cherry tonight

I must admit not to being a Josh fan but yesterday i thought he arrived as a professional football player he had a brilliant game as for Connell i thought he had a very good game and some fans need to get off his back the lad always gives 100% and in my book had a decent game.

Decent performance, looked knackered at the end but Danny and Anton and the front line had put a lot of effort in. I've not been a Josh or Connell fan recently but I thought they both stepped up a gear today. Josh needs to take a lot of confidence from yesterday and build on it as he's starting to make the grade. Connell brings something else to the forward line, he comes inside and creates an extra man in the middle and he and Brett clearly like playing together as they can link up far more cleverly than other combinations. When on song, he allows us to try and go through teams on the ground instead of always looking for Fletch's head. Shame his confidence in front of goal seems so low right now.

Great to see a marauding centre back aswell, loved Marvin's run from inside our half up to their box!

All this moaning about not scoring all the chances, your missing the point we are creating the chances, as long as we keep doing that then we will score, I have seen great teams create chances galore and still only win 1-0 so it's not a concern, on another day we could have had five and maybe will. Connell will come good, he offers a different kind of play which is needed against footballing sides, Fletch is great as a bruiser but sometimes you need the brains as well and that's where Connell comes in, ok he's not banging them away at the moment but it hardly makes him a bad player, his run will come and hopefully that will be in the coming games.
